Garlic Knot Bake

Hi Everyone! It’s day 14 of official quarantine for us and we are doing our best not to go crazy. Being in the kitchen has always helped me decompress and right now it’s no different. I’m spending way too much time in the kitchen and making ALL THINGS CARBS. This recipe is no exception. This recipe was inspired by a food photographer I follow - they kept posting these cheesy, saucy garlic knots and I finally had to make them. This recipe is the perfect combination of a cheese pizza and garlic knots. I mean… need I say more?!

Not only is my Garlic Knot Bake the ultimate comfort food but it’s also made from mostly pantry staples which makes it all the more perfect during this time of social distancing. Trust me on this one, this will make all things in the world better (at least in the moment you consume it)! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

To make:

In a clean bowl, add 1 Tbsp olive oil and roll the dough in it to cover. Leave dough in bowl and cover with clean towel. Set aside in a dry warm area for 2 hours to rise.

While the dough is rising, make the garlic oil. In a small bowl, combine 4 Tbsp of olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, oregano, parsley, basil and garlic. Set aside.

Grease 2 8” round cake pans. You can use any oven safe pan but this recipe provides enough dough for 2 8” pans.

When the dough is ready, remove from bowl and roll dough out to a long log and cut into 1” thick pieces.

Pull each piece into a longer strip, about 3” long. Spread oil mixture on dough and tie dough in a knot. Place in the pan. Continue with remaining dough.

Set pan aside and let knots rise for another hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. When knots are ready, bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden on top. Remove from oven and spread with 1 cup of marinara sauce. Top with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella and broil for another 5 minutes, until cheese is bubbling.

Serve hot and enjoy!
