Cheddar Beer Bread

Growing up, we always had ham on Easter so that’s a tradition I intend to keep with my kids. Here’s the thing though, I don’t necessarily love just a slice of ham. What I do love is a good slice of ham and mustard in sandwich form. My mom used to always have croissants or some sort of bread on the side so I would always make a sandwich. Yes, it makes dinner a little more casual but also A LOT more delicious. So, I decided I needed some sort of bread so I can make myself a ham sandwich for Easter. And what better bread than one made with cheese and beer?!

This bread is chewy, buttery, cheesy, and crunchy all at the same time and EVERYTHING you want. I know flour is hard to come by these days but this bread works perfectly with all purpose or bread flour. I have not tried it yet, but I am sure it works with self rising flour (just omit the baking powder) or wheat flour as well.

I hope you enjoy!

Add beer and stir until just combined. You may need to use your hands to knead it together into a loaf

Line a loaf pan with parchment paper and place dough into pan. Cover dough with remaining butter. You can slice the butter or grate it.

Sprinkle with flake salt and bake until golden brown, about 45-50 minutes.

Let cool for 10-20 minutes. Remove from loaf pan and serve with butter and honey.

Enjoy!
