Candied Toast with Cambozola

I’m very excited to share this recipe with you guys because it’s truly one of my favorites. It’s a huge crowd pleaser, super easy, and beyond delicious! I honestly could eat the entire loaf of bread and cheese on my own… no question.

This is one of those recipes that you can make any time of the day. I’ve had it for brunch with an egg and fruit or as a small lunch with a glass of my favorite Chablis or Bordeaux. However, my favorite way to pair it is with my Peach, Goat Cheese, and Truffle Salad. All the flavors compliment each other so well and it’s an addictingly good meal. Regardless of how you pair it, or if you’re serving yourself or a party, you need to make this asap!

Ingredients:

1 loaf ciabatta bread, sliced 1” thick

1 stick butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

6-8oz cambozola cheese (taleggio also works nicely)

1/4 cup chopped roasted macadamia nuts (optional)

Place a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add butter to melt.

Once butter is melted, add brown sugar and stir to combine.

Place a single layer of ciabatta bread in skillet and let caramelize on each side about 30 seconds. Continue flipping for 2-3 minutes so the brown sugar and butter create a Carmel coating on the bread. Remove from skillet and set aside to cool for 3-5 minutes.

Once cool to the touch, spread a generous amount of cheese on each piece of toast.

Top with nuts and serve warm.

Enjoy!
