Hibiscus Simple Syrup

I try to keep multiple simple syrups in the fridge at all times so I always have options when making cocktails. Every couple months, I update my selection to go with the season. Infused simple syrups are the easiest way to add depth to a cocktail. They’re also great to keep on hand to drizzle over desserts. Keep in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

Recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups water

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup dried hibiscus

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan.

  2. Bring to a low boil to dissolve sugar and then reduce liquids to a simmer.

  3. Allow to simmer for 20 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

  5. Strain liquid into an airtight jar and store in the refrigerator.
