Toasted Pecan Simple Syrup

This simple syrup is basically a pecan pie in liquid form. It gives any cocktail a touch of sweetness and a ton of nuttiness. Not feeling a cocktail? Drizzle it over some vanilla ice cream. Seriously, this makes everything good!

Recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups water

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

2 cups pecans halves and/or pieces

Directions:

  1. Add pecans to a medium sauce pan and place over medium heat.

  2. Toast pecans for 1-2 minutes to bring out the flavor.

  3. Add water and sugar and bring to a low boil.

  4. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and let cook for 20 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and let cool. .

  6. Strain liquid into an airtight jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
